HOL-01

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-01   Behold
Nature is full of wonders, from grand to small. Most important, nature is all around us. Behold and you will be rewarded.

HOL-02

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-02   Celebrate
In Minnesota, winters are cold and the nights are long. Winter celebrations give us assurance that life continues and hope that spring will come.

HOL-03

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-03   Cherish
I love birds - they are a fascinating study. Many of our summer birds are winter birds half a world away. Our winter birds keep us filled with delight until their migratory kin head north in spring.

HOL-04

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-04   Good Will
Inspired by a Great Gray owl irruption. Irruptions in the bird world are cause by food shortages in a bird's native range. It made me think that we all need to make way for newcomers around us and greet them with good will.

HOL-05

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-05   Hope
It lends us energy to go forward, leads us to work for a better world, gives us the ability to cope - it is hope!

HOL-06

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-06   Joy
Slow down, see the natural world around you. Whether it is a snowflake, a bird, a winter tree's lacy branches or a seed head from a summer flower that you observe, joy is what you will find.

HOL-07

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-07   Peace
This was the first of the Tableau Tails cards, a year of a new war, and the illustration grew out of a hope that everyone should be able to walk through their own evening world in peace and without fear.

HOL-08

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-08   Rejoice
Ask any birdwatcher - friendships grow watching the natural world together.

HOL-09

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-09   Wonder
Real life intrudes upon card design once again in a winter reminiscence of a summer painting residency and of the many hours spent with paints and easel and my trusty dog Finnegan, watching the St. Croix River flow by.

HOL-10

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-10   Reflect
With the shortest day and longest night, winter deepens and settles in to stay for a while. This might be the time to reflect on all that is around you that you might forget to notice every day.

HOL-11

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-11   Cheer
With its familiar "cheer cheer cheer" call, the cardinal is an uplifting sight, especially in winter.

HOL-12

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-12   Yuletide
Celebrating the beginning of the winter holidays in honor of my mother's Swedish heritage.

HOL-13

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-13   God Jul
The Tomte in Sweden, Nisse in Norway and Denmark, is a symbol of both the winter solstice and the Christmas season.

HOL-14

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-14   A Light in the Dark
May we all light each other's way with friendship and community.

HOL-15

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-15   Friendship
What better companions for our moonlit Tomte than a herd of wild Dala?

HOL-16

Christmas, New Years, Solstice, wintery celebrations

HOL-16   'Twas the night before...
Christmas, Yule-time, New Year, Solstice, whichever winter holiday you choose. These friends are snuggled down for their long winter's nap, awaiting a surprise in their appropriately decorated stockings. May this card bring holiday joy to your friends as well!
